Department FAQs

Does L&D support career progression planning?

Yes. L&D supports career progression by providing structured development pathways, particularly through the Leadership Development Program (LDP). The LDP is designed to prepare high-performing and high-potential IBFMs for expanded responsibilities and future leadership roles.

In addition, foundational programs such as Insurance Training and Communication Skills Training help employees build the competencies required for growth within their respective business units.

Can IBFMs request additional training outside of required programs?

Yes. IBFMs or managers may request additional training beyond the standard programs. Similar to customized team training, the timeline will depend on the topic, complexity, and development requirements. L&D evaluates each request based on alignment with business priorities, potential impact, and available resources.

What development opportunities are available for IBFMs?

IBFMs have access to several development opportunities through L&D, including:

- Insurance Training (Onboarding and Refresher Programs) to strengthen technical knowledge and client readiness
- Communication Skills Training to enhance professional presence and effectiveness
- Leadership Development Program (LDP) for aspiring and current leaders
- Leadership Onboarding for newly appointed leaders

These programs are designed to support both role readiness and long-term professional growth across business units.

How are training schedules communicated?

Training schedules and session details are typically communicated via official email announcements, which include registration instructions, session objectives, and logistical details.

For training requests initiated by specific business units, communication is coordinated directly with the respective managers to ensure proper participant endorsement and scheduling alignment. Updates, changes, or reminders are also communicated through the same channels to maintain clarity and consistency.

How are training priorities determined?

Training priorities are determined based on business needs, operational impact, and resource availability.

- Refresher trainings are typically scheduled as needed and may be arranged promptly depending on trainer availability and urgency.
- Structured programs such as the Leadership Development Program and Communication Skills Training are coordinated with business units to consolidate participants and maximize resource utilization.
- For larger initiatives, alignment discussions are conducted first to ensure the training supports broader operational or strategic goals.

This approach allows L&D to balance responsiveness with efficient use of resources.

Can L&D create customized training for a specific team?

Yes. L&D can design customized training programs based on the specific needs of a team or business unit. The scope, complexity, and objectives of the requested training will determine the development timeline. For new or highly specialized topics, course design and development may require additional time to ensure quality, relevance, and alignment with business goals. We work closely with requesting managers to clarify outcomes, target audience, and expected impact before finalizing timelines.

Who can I contact for L&D-related concerns or requests?

You can reach out to us via email at ld@insboss.net

Is L&D support available to other business units?

Yes. L&D supports multiple business units across the organization. While many of our structured insurance programs are aligned with the needs of the Insurance Services Business Unit (ISBU), we also provide training support to the Accounting Services Business Unit (ASBU) and the Telemarketing Services Business Unit (TSBU).

Across these teams, we deliver Communication Skills Training and Basics of Insurance Training to ensure strong foundational knowledge, professional standards, and alignment with operational requirements. Our goal is to equip all supported business units with the skills and competencies needed to perform effectively and contribute to overall business success.

How does L&D support Operations?

L&D ensures Operations teams have the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to deliver consistent, high-quality client service. We provide training for onboarding and refreshing IVAs, offer coaching and performance support for CSMs, and develop leaders to drive operational efficiency and team success.

What types of programs does L&D offer?

L&D offers three main types of programs:

Insurance Training – onboarding for new IVAs and refresher sessions to maintain knowledge and compliance.

Leadership Development Program (LDP) – structured development for current and aspiring leaders.

Leadership Onboarding – a guided onboarding experience for new leaders to accelerate readiness and effectiveness.

In addition to these programs, L&D is also responsible for facilitating and rolling out other initiatives, including Communication Skills Training, Discipline Management Guidelines, and the InsBOSS Attendance Policy.

Who does L&D currently support?

L&D supports all IBFMs. Most of our training sessions currently focus on onboarding new IVAs and CSMs, but refresher training sessions are available to everyone. Programs like the Leadership Development Program are open to all InsBOSS Leaders, and we also provide Insurance Training and Communication Skills Training to other business units and departments.

What is the role of the Learning & Development (L&D) team?

The L&D team equips IBFMs and leaders with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to perform their roles effectively and grow professionally. We design and deliver structured training programs, provide learning resources, and support ongoing development to ensure operational excellence and leadership readiness.
